Think about that for a moment. How did Microsoft kill Netscape? Yup,
made the browser free. How will Google try to own the entire ad serving
biz? Make it free. Why would they do this? Because the most valuable
thing in the world of advertising is not the commodity , it’s the
information the commodity will provide.
Providing a scaled ad serving solution? Free. Knowing the margins of every media and marketing company in the world? Priceless.
My first post on twitter was back in december 2006. It was called Working on my attention. I’ve tried Twitter back then thanks to a very smart post from Kathy Sierra.
Unfortunately, Kathy is under web violence at the moment (which also represent a huge insight on weblife). She explains everything in her blog (Wikipedia summary of the story just below).

In March 2007, Kathy Sierra abruptly cancelled her appearance at the O’Reilly ETech conference in San Diego, after receiving graphic and sexual messages that made her afraid to leave her house. In a blog post at Creating Passionate Users,
she stated that the harassment started with some blog comments posted
four weeks earlier. Then she came across some other comments and
photographs which indicated to her a pattern of intimidation Source Wikipedia. (Imagine what you would have written and then watch the history of the page)
Lundi a londres j’ai passé un excellent déjeuner avec Seb* d’egomedium qui me parlait de sa volonté de disparaitre en mettant fin à son blog (il vient de frachir les 100 abonnées à son flux RSS), il a fait un post sur le sujet. Ce midi j’ai déjeuner avec Alban Martin … qui travaille maintenant aussi sur le sujet. Je suis fier d’etre entouré de "Live Brain" et je vais profiter de ces deux rencontres pour tenter de mettre mon bordel en ordre … il s’agirait pas d’oublier ce que je pense … allons y par l’oubli.
Je commence donc par la solution pour poser la question.
Seb, Alban a arreté de blogger et a laisse son blog sur l’économie de la musique en ligne à ceux qui veulent rester live sur le sujet. Tu pourrais faire de même sur l’identité… j’ai toujours été pour les blogs à plusieurs mains, le seul soucis c’est que généralement il faut un leader.
Revenons à l’identité. Alban m’a parlé des approches d’Orange. Une de ses questions portait sur la vie des identités. Un peu en live je lui ai répondu que pour moi il existait des identités au paradis = LIVE, au purgatoire = INactive & des identités en enfer = Dead … des traces mortes.
L’identité est en place en tout cas au moins dans ces 3 cerveaux qui moulinent toute la journée. La question est maintenant de les faire vivre! Apophenia pose une bonne question sur son blog en rappellant les vertus de l’oubli :

When we first start designing U-lik, we wanted an interface that would speed up the rating process. We were bored by Amazon’s one while working on a benchmark for recommendation engine. Try rating 100 things in amazon, it’s quite painfull (and you cannot watch a video in the same time to jazz it up). Imagine that we had 4 different profiles to fill on various websites ….
U-lik is the place where you can rate at the speed of light (as soon as you have figure out how it works ) at this speed even an itunes plug-in is lagging !!

I was playing with the new U-lik Netvibes Widget (houhou ! It’s a teasing) and brwosing my "genius" tag i encountered Steve Jobs who was illustrated by the vidéo of his speach @ Stanford. It’s fantastic, it’s a classic but it’s fantastic. This speach is famous for college students and is priceless :
